The World Series of Poker 2008 was held at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is a series of poker tournaments, which began on the 30th of May, 2008.
The World Series of Poker has been facilitated by Harrah's Entertainment since 2004, when the company bought the annual event from the Binion family.
In this year's event, Nikolay Evdakov got ahead of all the other players by having a record of ten money finishes in a single World Series. He broke the record of eight that Phil Hellmuth, Michael Binger, Chad Brown, and Humberto Brenes held. However, it was Erick Lindgren who won the Player of the Year Award. He won a bracelet and was able to make it to three final tables. Another notable player in the said event was Scotty Nguyen, who became the first player to bag both the Main Event and the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E World Championship bracelets.
